Jeff Verkuilen pursues a dual career in both music and the accounting/tax professions. As a musician, his interests are in organ and piano, accompanying, and choral conducting. Jeff began playing organ in church at age eleven. He currently serves as Organist, Sanctuary Choir Director, and Music Coordinator at First United Methodist Church in Green Bay. Jeff has been a faculty member at St. Norbert College in De Pere for the past twenty years, where he provides organ instruction; he also maintains an active studio of private organ students. He has performed frequently with many area ensembles, including the Dudley Birder Chorale of St. Norbert College and the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra. An active member of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), Jeff has earned the Fellowship designation, the Guild’s highest level of certification. He has served the AGO in leadership roles at the national, regional, and local levels, and has presented workshops and written articles for The American Organist. Jeff is active in community affairs including serving on the boards of directors of the Dudley Birder Chorale (currently as President), Brown County Civic Music, the Civic Symphony of Green Bay, and the Green Bay Rotary Club. In addition to his music career, Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant, and until recently owned a public accounting firm, for which he continues to provide consulting services. Jeff is an honors graduate of St. Norbert College and is also an MBA honors graduate from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. Jeff lives in Howard, and is happily married to Karen, a paraprofessional at Bay Port High School. They are proud parents of two children: John, a doctoral student in choral conducting at the Manhattan School of Music, and Katie, a special education teacher at Bay Port High School. Jeff is excited to be a new team member of the Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music and is especially looking forward to working with the choir as the bass coach.
