Mark Ramthun recently retired after a 33 year teaching career. Mark spent the last 24 years of his career as the Instrumental Music Director at Dodgeville High School, where he taught Concert Band, Marching Band, Orchestra, Music Appreciation, Music Theory and a Rock and Roll class called Garage Band, as well as directing the Pit Orchestra for many musicals and the Pep Band.


Mark received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and holds a Masters Degree from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. He has served as a staff member with the Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music since 2006 as a low brass coach and also is one of the co-conductors of the Ambassador Band. He has served as brass coach for the Wisconsin State Honors Orchestra, instrumental audition judge for the Kids From Wisconsin and is still active as a professional trombonist in Southern Wisconsin, having performed with the Madison Neophonic Jazz Orchestra, The Nutcracker Pit Orchestra, The Driftless Bones and the Class Brass Quintet. Mark was a long time member of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, where he served as Baritone Soloist, Drum Major and Brass Instructor.


Mark resides in Dodgeville with his lovely wife, Luci (the WAM emcee), and their dog, Blue. Mark and Luci have two sons, Aaron, 27, and Noah, 24 who are Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music Alumni. We love to travel, enjoy hiking and kayaking in the beautiful Driftless Area and cooking delicious food.
